The walleye bite should pick up in about a week. Water levels are high. Crappie fishing has been slow this year so far compared to the last few falls. But I am catching some beautiful big crappies every time I am out. This year slack current and eddy’s in the main channels are out producing back water areas I normally target. I am catching fish from 6 feet to 18 fow with 10-12 fow being the best.Fish are found tight to bottom are key as well as fishing structure/ cover.
The bite changes daily as far as what to use. Wolf river rigs without floating jigs, crappie rigs. Aberdeen hooks with a piece of split shot and of course “jigs” 3/16 , 1/8 and even 1/32 to 1/4 oz as far a really small and really “big”
slow presentations often catch more fish as well as using multiple rods dead sticking.
I am heading out to North Dakota to hunt for awhile. I have a few openings for prime spring walleye times on Winnebago and Green Bay if you really want to do a lot of catching! I may have one or 2 more days of fishing ahead this season on the Wolf.
