Door County 8-16

Late Report:

Walleye fishing in Door county reefs and structure Sunday and Monday Heat and rain.

Sunday had 4 foot waves and almost mid 90 air temps and high winds. Monday had rain in the mix. We boated Trophy fish every day.

Deep water off structure targeting bait balls worked with both cranks and spinner rigs.

Shallow water structure fishing– We used both cranks and spinners. I found the bigger walleyes hit the cranks and smaller walleyes. I keep fish for eating 22 inches and under and release the fish over that size.

A tagged fished we caught was a male 29 inches and was estimated to be 22 years old by the DNR. Hard to believe they can live that long!

Jigging for walleyes has also been great. Sometimes the biggest fish are taken this way too but it is a technical bite too.

Walleyes are everywhere– and getting them to bite is always what the fisherman must figure out each day! That challenge is what I live for out on the water! — and that is what I love about fishing.

I am also targeting smaller fish 18-22 inches in the lower bay for a jig/casting/trolling trips as well. Some trips are non trolling on Green Bay.

I have some openings next week call, email or text me.
