Fishing Report for July 25-27 Green Bay

Friday the 25th I fished with Kurt Kenzler and Pete Krason again for the day on Green Bay in Spring we jigged some really nice walleyes on Lake Winnebago.  Today was EPIC.

We caught 25 walleyes. 10 fish were in the 8 pound range and the rest were in the 4 to 6 pound range. We only kept 5 for dinner as everything was to too big and released back to fight again for another day.

Weather was perfect Friday for walleyes a 25 MPH S wind with grey skies and a fantastic bite. We had a few key baits that the fish really liked.

Sunday morning I ran 2 trips . In the morning I fished a second time with Christian and Jeff Dahl from West bend, Wi.  I donated a guide trip to St Baldrick’s Cancer benefit foundation for my good Friend Aaron Eastman. We caught 8 walleyes and kept 4 for dinner. I wasn’t able to do my usual photos of the catch.

Sunday afternoon and Monday I fished with Ben SR, Kurt and Ben JR –Carpenter from Indiana and Nevada.  We had not as good a bite but caught a limit of nice fish jigging trolling and released 1 giant trolling. Kurt’s biggest walleye to date. We caught a lot of undersized walleyes  as well -still fun to catch!

HOT hot Weather–flat dead calm and bright skies not the best but we got it done anyways and covered a lot of water to catch fish venturing miles from our launch spot.

We lost some really nice fish -and that happens every trip.  But I always say “It is all fun a games until someone loses a Walleye”

I will be targeting walleyes here through October so if you want to get out and jig and troll for some great fish give me a call email or text me!

Fishing report for July 22 Green Bay

Fishing is still good.

I fished with Dan Nortman and his Daughter age 11 Mckayla  and his good friend Captain Brad Eastman from Algoma– a salmon fishing Guru! Brad is always a easy going guy that really like to fish even on his days off!!

Give Kinns Charters of Algoma, Wi.  a call and ask for Brad if you want some great salmon action!

We had no wind and bright sun and we still got walleyes with changing tacitics at noon. The key was finding the “magic Depth” were the feeding walleyes were active. Once we did this we changed are presentation up and increased speed to 1.7 mph to create a reaction bite.

We released trophies from 26-28 inches and kept eaters that were 18 to 22 inches.photo 1 (1) photo 1 (2) photo 2 (1) photo 3 (1) photo 4 (2) photo 5 (1) photo 5 (3)

July 18th Green Bay

photo (6) photo 5 (2)Fishing was good with trophy sized fish being released back into the water 28,26 incher and fish greater than 22 inches.  I had the pleasure of fishing with Leon Hesebeck and his grandson Kyle -21 from Oakfield Wi..

We caught fish everywhere we fished out on the bay with crawler harnesses( I have a really great one I have been tying up that is catching a lot of nice Walleyes) and I am also using crawler harnesses too. Those baits are working too!

We started out delaying the trip for 2 hours due to really bad thunderstorms in the morning and getting out about 830.  We started in 3 foot waves and the sun and heat came but the wind picked up out of the south and really it was a very pleasant day out on the water!! P1030089 P1030092 photo 1 (1) photo 1 (2) photo 3 (1) photo 5 (1)

fishing report for July 17 Green Bay

Fishing remains very good.

I am trolling these days with good results. Having good electronics and adjusting speed has made big payoffs for me and my clients!

Today my Brother Mike and his 9 year old daughter Ava and his 11 year old daughter Lauren fished with me and caught there first walleyes. Ava caught a 27 inch fish and Lauren caught a 26 inch fish. We caught 8 fish and lost 5 really nice walleyes today as they were not hitting real aggressively today.

It was hot 88 degrees and flat calm! Not ideal — however I always say the best time to fish is when you CAN! We did great and the girls caught
“some very large scary fish” fat 27s 26s  let go to swim another day!

Monday July 9th & 13 th Green Bay

Fishing has been very good with a lot of big fish. Monday I fished with the Engels. Charles Sr- Dad, son Chuck and grandson Nolan age 12. We had a absolute blast as we caught over 25 walleyes. We caught walleyes everywhere we went just after a big storm. Usually bad fishing weather- but not today!

We had 20 plus fish over 22 inches up to 28 inches. Multiple,26 ,27 inch Walleyes! Nolan age 12 was shown how to rig the rods add crawlers and set drags and linecounters on my 8 foot rods. Nolan had a infectious smile and no matter what caught more fish than anyone else in the boat!  Lucky for chuck SR he didn’t bet dinner on the biggest or even the most fish on this trip.

Last week I fished with Mike and Gary and we did very well too. We boated over 15 huge walleyes letting many 24-28 inch walleyes go to swim another day. Gary and Mike wanted to learn where and how to catch bigger walleyes. WE did just that!

We used a variety of baits to figure what —-they wanted!!!                  !photo 1 (1) photo 1 (3) photo 1 (4) photo 2 (2) photo 2 photo 3 (1) photo 3 (2) photo 3 (3) photo 4 (1) photo 4 (3) photo 5 (2) photo 5 (3) photo 1 (1) photo 1 (3) photo 2 (1) photo 2 (2) photo 3 (2) photo 3 (3) photo 4 (1) photo 4 (2)

Late report for June 25 th Lake Winnebago

image_21 image_18 image_14 image_12 image_11 image_9 image_7 image_6 image_2 - CopyLate report for Last Thursday

Fishing has been the best ever and it has been disappointing depending on the day. Great days are there to be had too.

Last thursday we had clouds ALL DAY and wind. My boat only jigs, casts. We had a 27, 25,24,24, 22,22 and others 17-21 (kept 9).

Other days Dinks/ sheep and some nice perch and crappies. Wind or really lack of it; is tough to fish the way I do on lake Winnebago when not trolling.

I have been using crawlers and leeches and some days there is definitely a preference one way or another.

I have been fishing with a lot of the same guys I fished with last year or in previous years! Thanks everyone!

All I can say is try everything, drift, anchor, cast jigs, cranks and use slip bobbers. down size to 6# mono on some rods even. Fish weeds, rocks .

I have a few openings and am also doing very well on Green Bay. Call or email if you want to get with me.

Latest News:

Great Walleye fishing. Started out with a Strong NE wind and 3 footers . I had Dave and shane out and they got sea sick in 45 minutes so I took them in and their trip was over! I headed back out to rough seas and found fish everywhere.

I did quite a bit of moving and located a couple nice Pods of walleyes N of Oconto in 10- 22 fow. Some fish I graphed and others I did not mark. I fished the botom 2/3 rds of the water column with Harnesses. Purple was the hot color Small blades.

I ended up releasing most fish. I took a giant fish to the taxidermist. I couldn’t believe it was as big as it was this late?

I realeased 28s ,24s etc. I do not keep fish for the table bigger than 22 inches.

I have a opening for 1 -2 all day –on Friday if you are interested ? Call or email me.
