Report for Green Bay June 30

P1020362 P1020361P1020355P1020346P1020338P1020351P1020349Late report for Sunday June 28th

Walleye fishing has really had a tough bite on the bay. This is unusual at this time of year. I know today was just that way for me. I met a guy at the Metro today who said this is the first day in 7 years he has not caught a single walleye on the bay fishing ALL DAY. I was in that same club today. I tried a lot of great “guide spots” and varied the set up with depth changes, live bait rigs and crank baits. I worked and worked today. Water temp was 75 degrees. Waves were about 2-3 feet. July is just about here and I catch some of my biggest fish on Green Bay mid to late July in deep water to the north.

Sunday I did well on big fish!! We landed over a 2 man limit of fish and released most of these walleyes. Some way to big and some just under legal size. We used crank baits. Flicker shads and jointed shad raps very small sized baits!!

I knocked off a nice 20 inch fish for Trent with poor guide netting. But I redeemed myself by netting both the 26 and the 27 inch fish seconds apart in the same net. (facebook green & Gold Guide service) See the sequence of events pictures.)

The day of our trip was Dan’s birthday and he caught the first fish a 26 inch walleye on a small jointed shad rap on a spinning rod with 10 # spider wire. Ended up the day catching a nice 27. Green Bay has hit a miss days lately but if you have a good day it is a lot of fun. However I am fishing Lake Winnebago more days than the Green Bay.

I am fishing virtually every day and doing well on Lake Winnebago. I have someone interested in splitting a full day trip on Lake Winnebago on either July 5 or 6th $200 per man or woman. Finesse sport angling with Green and Gold Guide service.

I do no trolling jigs casting etc and am catching 30 plus fish per day. check out my reports on my website at greenandgoldfishing.com “reports tab”

Fishing report for June 24 and 25th Lake Winnebago

P1020299P1020303P1020301             I fished lake Winnebago in full sun on tues with a really tough bite with Mike and Mel from Water town. We casted, jigged and used Lindy rigs. We caught only 6 walleyes over the day. Wind was zero and the bugs were bad. Then the next day the weather changed to help improve the bite.P1020291P1020292P1020296

Walleye fished this morning and caught over a 2 man limit of fish in 4 hours jigging.

We used slip bobbers and jigs only no trolling. Walleyes were 17 to 21 inches. I have a lot of fun trolling for big fish on Green Bay.

If you want to troll I can put a lot more fish in the boat but I like the challenge and skill with this type of walleye fishing on Lake Winnebago. But I can do trips that do both if you spend the day with me!

Cloudy skies 2-3 foot waves all helped turn the fish on the reefs. (rough weather is best)

Debby and Terry proved that patience and the right touch put fish in the box! Good luck out there.

Fishing report for June 22 Lake Winnebago

Today was a excellent bite.

Fished the fog and and light rain today with Brandon and Michele for some great walleyes jigging today. The bite was different than yesterday and some adjustments in jig weights, presentations and speed put 3 Limits of Walleyes in the Box!

Michele had never walleyed fished and picked up on the techniques and caught her walleyes, crappies, catfish and sheepshead.

If you want to get out and catch some nice walleyes give me a call or email.

Fishing report Friday June 20 Lake Winnebago

P1020278P1020273P1020265P1020276 P1020269 P1020272P1020281    Walleyes are biting . No trolling 40 fish. All jigs. Pink was the color braided line and also 6 # mono. East wind they say “Walleye Fishing is the Least” not yesterday. I fished with to avid walleye anglers in the morning who wanted to increase their fishing skills and knowledge. I fished in the afternoon with a 2nd group of fishermen. One of these men has never walleye fished before pictured with the fish on the boat. I do a lot of Walleye trolling in Green Bay and virtually none on Lake Winnebago because it is fun to feel the fish pick up the bait, pause and set the hook and fight just a fish ( not a planner board). I have morning walleye charter tomorrow Sunday. I need to anglers in the afternoon to fish with me! Jim Kleist greenandgoldfishing.comP1020265P1020271

Fishing report for June 19th Green Bay

We went Walleye this morning in a “window of opportunity” with forecasted storms at 11 am.
I Walleye fished with first time Green Bay fisherman Gerry and Ande of Green Bay. We boated 8 walleyes and kept some for eating. ‘

Night crawler harnesses and flicker shads running about 8 feet deep. Fish for me were scattered deep and Shallow with winds NE shifting almost due East.

We had a ton of fun today!

Fishing report for Saturday June 14th Green Bay

Fished the morning with strong East Winds. Pulled cranks and harnesses. I used both electric and gas options to troll today as the winds were strong.

Stinger hooks on the harnesses helped for short bites today. I highly recommend a small treble stingers.

My trolling wpeed was around 1.3 mph I trolled higher up off the bottom today. They say “fishing from the East the fishing is the least” We not bad today!

Wayne, Scott and Jason from Fox Lake Wi. caught some really nice Green Bay walleyes. We had some “short fish” as well.

I have some week day openings if someone wants to get out and avoid the crowds next week.

Fishing report for Friday June 13 th, 2014 Lake Winnebago

Late report from Friday.

Jigged up over 30 walleyes yesterday after I found active fish. It took a couple of hours to find active fish and Winnebago walleyes were really aggressive.

We caught a “Hunch Back” walleye today.

Methods jigs. Technique and location were both critical. With yesterday’s high winds boat control on drifts was helpful ( 2 drift socks)

I guided 2 ( 2 man groups) yesterday. Kevin and Larry first time Bago fishermen( with a brand new Lund boat). Then Jason and Ron who have always trolled and done very well on Bago.

I take a lot of guys out that a great fisherman but want to learn the jig and casting bite on Winnebago. If that is you to??
give me a call and lets go fishing!

But if you want to troll I do that on Winnebago and also up in Green Bay ( greenandgoldfishing.com)

Fished a few hours this afternoon with Erik. His Daughter Chelsea bought him a Father’s Day Walleye charter with me.

We did well. I showed him several spots that have been productive for me in a large area of Green Bay. We caught fish in all those areas. I trolled slum Dog Flicker shads and crawler harnesses with no planner boards. Sometimes less means more and it allows me to work changes in depth than the “drone” planer boards set at one depth.

The fish wanted live bait on the harnesses. We released a lot of walleyes tonight as well. The color of these fish is gorgeous— “Gold” Erik was saying s–Green Bay Gold for sure in my book!

Winnebago is one of those places that I use that trick and why jig fishing there often out produces trolling. Fish relate to the structure. I am using light colored # 4 blades tonight.

Check out my website greenandgoldfising.com for my fishing reports of both places.

I fished a structure with slip bobbers, drifting with jigs and casting jigs. I did well on Walleyes. Sheep head are not as much a nuisance as a week ago Monday but still fairly thick!
Pitching crank baits was as big a payoff as jigs. #6 flicker shads. I great bait on Green Bay and a great bait on Bago. I am finding fish shallow and also out in the deep water 12 – 15 fow as well. I fished with Pete on Monday and had a great time!
